Your invoice is often the last impression a client has of a project. A professional-looking invoice reinforces that you’re a professional business. A generic one… doesn’t hurt, but doesn’t help either. Customize your invoices to match your brand. Add your logo, pick your colors, choose a layout that fits your style.

Template settings

Go to Settings → Invoicing → Templates to customize:

Upload

  1. Go to template settings
  2. Click Upload Logo
  3. Select image file (PNG, JPG, or SVG)
  4. Position it: left, center, or right

What works best

  • Recommended size: 300×100 pixels
  • Max file size: 2MB
  • Transparent background looks more polished

Colors

Primary color

Shows up in:
  • Invoice header
  • Total section
  • Payment button

Accent color

Shows up in:
  • Links
  • Highlights
  • Secondary elements
Enter hex codes or use the color picker. Match your website or brand guidelines.

Layout options

Classic

Traditional professional layout:
  • Logo top left
  • Company info top right
  • Clean table for line items
  • Summary at bottom right
Good for: professional services, B2B, traditional industries

Modern

Contemporary design:
  • Full-width header
  • Larger typography
  • Card-style line items
  • Prominent total
Good for: creative agencies, tech companies, startups

Minimal

Simple and clean:
  • Less visual clutter
  • More whitespace
  • Focus on the numbers
Good for: anyone who wants invoices to feel effortless

Custom fields

Add fields that matter for your business:
  1. Go to Template Settings → Custom Fields
  2. Click Add Field
  3. Enter field name
  4. Choose where it appears (header, footer, line item)
  5. Save
Common additions:
  • Project name
  • PO number
  • Contract reference
  • Custom terms

Invoice numbering

Customize how invoice numbers are formatted:

Set in Settings → Invoicing → Numbering. Add text that appears at the bottom of every invoice:
  • Payment instructions (“Wire transfers to…”)
  • Thank you message
  • Terms and conditions
  • Company registration info
Supports basic formatting (bold, italic, links).

Multiple templates

Create different templates for different situations:
  • Default — Standard invoices
  • Retainer — Monthly retainer billing
  • Project — Detailed project breakdowns with milestones

Creating additional templates

  1. Go to Templates
  2. Click New Template
  3. Configure settings
  4. Name it
  5. Save
When creating an invoice, pick which template to use.

Preview before saving

  1. Click Preview
  2. See exactly how the invoice will look
  3. Switch between desktop and mobile views
  4. Test with sample data
